Server-Based Computing and the Access Infrastructure
For nearly 10 years, the SBC Technologies team has promoted and endorsed the benefits of server-based computing with Microsoft Terminal Services and Citrix Presentation Server. By centralizing 100% of all application execution on affordable Intel-based servers, companies can dramatically increase application performance for both local and remote users, regardless of their connection type (dialup, wireless, LAN or WAN). Plus old PCs can be resurrected to provide exceptional performance once again through the use of a Citrix ICA client or the Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). Additionally, Citrix solutions allow you to create secure web-based portals that can be accessed via a browser from anywhere. SBC Technologies also helps deploy inexpensive thin clients from various manufacturers as an alternative to more costly PCs. For more information, review the following product lines:
Running on Windows Server 2003, the Terminal Server feature gives users at client computers throughout your network access to Windows-based programs. With Terminal Server, you can provide a single point of installation that allows multiple users access to Windows Server 2003 operating system desktops, where they can run programs, save files, and use network resources, all from a remote location, as if these resources were installed on their own computers. Microsoft Terminal Server facilitates centralized computing. Applications can be accessed via Microsoft’s RDP client or via Citrix’s ICA client.
